Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) asked TargetClose to design, build, and maintain a site for its campaign, Rally to Read. The main objective was to encourage students and teachers to engage with the site’s read aloud videos, downloadables and sweepstakes. RIF also needed a way to track and monitor user engagement.
DESIGN
TargetClose’s UX team created five pages that were compliant with RIF’s style guide. The design features a kid-friendly aesthetic with vivid colors, easily legible fonts and engaging graphics.
The focal page for this site was the Resources page, which included read-aloud videos and downloadable resource packets.
The campaign lasted six months, with each month having a unique literary theme and set of content. Tabs for each month were created so the user could easily navigate themes and explore content.
To encourage return visits, we created an “explore” section to provide users with a sneak peak of the upcoming months’ books, read-aloud videos and themes.
Animations were utilized to draw attention to the “Take the Pledge” CTA.
To help spread awareness of the campaign, social media icons were integrated with auto-populated messages.
A sticky footer was added for easy access to downloadable content.
CUSTOM STAGING ENVIRONMENT
We architected a custom staging and production environment for Drupal9 on AWS to match the tech stack of RIF's main site. The staging environment allowed RIF to preview key site updates before they went live. The code base for the website and infrastructure was maintained via Github for easy client handoff at the end of the campaign.
MODULAR DASHBOARD FEATURE
TargetClose created a custom dashboard within Google Analytics so that RIF had constant, easy access to the campaign’s performance.
The client was thrilled with the management and overall success of the campaign. RIF decided to extend their contract with TargetClose and have us continue to manage the site.
